Making Space

Offering emerging theatre makers the space and support to create

The SYT Making Space programme supports young artists aged 16 – 25 who want to develop their own theatre work by offering time, space and guidance for a fixed period of time.

Making Space is a place to develop ideas, unlock creative potential and make connections with other art forms and artists. The programme supports the testing of new ideas and collaborations or can be used to develop a work in progress. These can be solo or group pieces and artists will have the opportunity to share their progress and get audience feedback.

The programme seeks to cultivate the next generation of Scottish theatre-makers by offering varied forms of support that include:

  • Free allocated space and time at our Glasgow city centre venue
  • Mentoring from industry professionals
  • Invitations to perform and share work at SYT

The programme is currently in its pilot stage and we have supported several artists and collectives including Ink, Tentpole Theatre, Limetree Productions, Kay Singh and David Gillan.

We will soon be making an open call for applications. Please get in touch if you’re an artist aged 16 – 25

  • with a genuine passion for entering the theatre industry
  • keen to develop your own  work
  • and make connections in the theatre industry,

Visit our website or social media nearer the time for updates and application deadlines
