Rail Respect

Scottish Youth Theatre is working in partnership with Network Rail on the Rail Respect project - delivering drama workshops exploring rail safety to nurseries, schools and youth groups.

The hot seating, role play and improvisations were totally suited to the delivery of the important message. Drama is a fabulous vehicle to promote and deliver rail safety. Teacher, Larbert High School, Falkirk

The workshops will use theatre arts based techniques to explore and to promote awareness of potential dangers. The workshops will also explore the decision making process and the potential hazards associated with making a hasty or wrong decision.

While promoting rail safety in particular, the understanding, self-awareness and skills learned will lead to improved decision making capacity in all aspects of the participants’ lives, leading to the development of more responsible citizens and safer communities.

The workshop programme with be delivered by a team of professional theatre arts educators with experience of working with children and young people. Scottish Youth Theatre will also develop a range of follow-up activities which will be given to the teacher/youth leader. The follow-up activities will be designed to reinforce the learning outcomes from the workshops.
