Groups participating in the National Roadshow will be asked to choose from the following workshops. Please make your selection and indicate this on your booking form.
Exploring Conflict through Movement
The young people will create the performance with little more than their own physicality, taking them on a journey where settings, props, characters and storylines are made with the performers’ own physical resources. Using the theme of conflict the participants will create a short piece which will allow them to explore new ideas and concepts. Recommended for S2 and above.
Page to Stage
Creatively explore staging, characterisation and direction using tried and tested theatre techniques to gain a fuller understanding of a text and its relevance to young people today.
Texts to choose from:
1. Scottish Contemporary - Mary Queen of Scots Got Her Head Chopped Off by Liz Lochhead
2. Scottish Contemporary - Thebans by Liz Lochhead
Shaken up Shakespeare
Using movement and character work to bring Shakespeare text to life. Exploring themes, imagery and characters the participants will look at an extract from A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The focus of the workshop will be practical rather than text based.
Intro to Devising
Games, exercises, improvisation and devising; participants can learn and experience drama skills within a fun, relaxed and creative environment. Focus is on building group work skills and developing confidence while enhancing learning. Using fast paced theatrical exercises participants will develop ideas from a range of stimuli including props, imagery, and music to create their own unique pieces of theatre.
Duration: Workshops can last between 1 hr 40 mins and 2hrs, depending on your class times. We will agree this with you once your booking is confirmed.
