Summer Holiday Courses - Unlock your Creative Potential – Work With Professional Theatre Makers - Make Friends – Improve Your Confidence – Devise and Perform

Summer Courses is Scottish Youth Theatre’s flagship event. Intensive performance courses allow young people to build on their personal, social and performance skills in a professional theatre environment.

Summer Courses 2017 are:

Theatre Making Café:Audacious
For young people aged 18 – 25 who have some experience in the performing arts
7 – 19 August (2 weeks) 10am – 9pm (times vary day to day) 
£300*
No audition – online application

A two week course aimed at emerging artists who have something to say and want to do it through theatre and performance. Starting with the title – Audacious, you will explore, reflect, plan, create and share the beginnings of new work.

Technical Theatre Course
For young people aged 16 – 25. No experience necessary
3 July – 5 August (5 weeks), 9:30am – 9pm (times vary day to day)
£600*

Online application with an interview** in person or via skype. 
Deadline for application: Fri 31 March. Interview will take place end of April.

Learning from industry professionals,experience first-hand the wide breadth of technical tasks involved in mounting a production.

Devising Course: The Happiness Formula
For young people aged 14 – 18. No experience necessary
10 – 29 July (3 weeks) 9:30am – 9pm (times vary day to day) 
£450*
Entrance by online application and audition**

Deadline for application: Fri 31 March. Auditions will take place the end of April

Working with professional theatre practitioners, you and your fellow theatre makers will form your own company to develop a new piece of theatre which will be performed at the end of the course/

Foundation Course: Intrepid
For young people aged 12 – 15. No experience necessary
10 – 22 July (2 weeks) Mon – Sat 10am – 5pm. Some evening rehearsals leading up to the performance. £300*
No audition – online application

Over two weeks, participants will work on acting, choreography, music and characterisation, then rehearse and perform a new piece of theatre based on the title Intrepid.
Performance date: Sat 22 August.

Junior Course 1: The Dream Jar  10 - 15 July
Junior Course 2: The Box of Odd Shoes  7 - 12 August

For young people aged 8 – 11. No experience necessary
10am – 4pm £120*
Out of Hours Club available
No audition – online application

Two week-long courses for young people who want to explore acting, movement, character and storytelling in a fun and energetic environment, with a performance for family and friends at the end of the week.

Each week is a different course so feel free to book both!


Out of Hours Club for Junior Courses

8:30 - 10am £5 per session

4 - 5:30pm £5 per session
Do you work and need to figure out how to drop off and collect your child at the Junior Courses? We are offering a competitively priced drop off and pick up period where participants can engage in a supervised low impact, fun activity.
