Many commercial businesses have a responsibility towards supporting their local communities and have policies in place to achieve this. Approaching good local businesses to sponsor you is a great way to raise Summer Festival funds. If you are a customer to a local business or have a personal connection with one, even better!
To find address of local business, use the yellow pages or www.yell.com or try your local Chamber of Commerce.
It may be useful to give potential supporters a copy of Scottish Youth Theatre's Annual Report. You can pick up printed copies from Scottish Youth Theatre's main office. Alternatively, you can download them, or put the links in your letter, if you are contacting businesses by email.
Scottish Youth Theatre will be more than willing to provide proof that you have been accepted onto your course, if requested.
If you want to write to local business, funding bodies, the press or your local council to gain funding for Summer Festival, but are having difficulty getting started, here is an example letter, which you could add your own details to and use.
If you are under 16, please inform a Parent/Guardian of your intention to send out letters.
Always remember to write a lette of thanks if you receive funding.
