GAIN PRACTICAL INSIGHTS INTO THE BUSINESS OF THEATRE THROUGH THIS second SERIES OF DIGESTIBLE DIGITAL SESSIONS. TURN YOUR PASSION INTO YOUR PROFESSION.

Fundamentals:ONLINE is a series of online webinars for all young theatre-makers looking to upskill and learn more about the practical ‘business of theatre’ from a host of industry professionals.

Through our Young Artist Survey last year, you told us what you needed most to equip yourself as you enter the industry. Whether you are looking to lay the groundwork and grow your understanding of how to establish a career in the arts or gain some valuable insights from people who have already done so, these webinars will explore key areas important to any artist trying to make their way. The series will introduce you to:

  • Creative Scotland Funding Applications – with Megan Reid (Creative Scotland)
  • Making Low-Carbon Theatre – with Hazel Darwin-Clements (writer and theatre-maker)
  • Shaping an Accessible Rehearsal Room – with Birds of Paradise Theatre

Perhaps you want to know how you can make your theatre practice more sustainable, how you can embed accessibility throughout the production process, or you’re needing guidance to break down some of the overwhelming questions within a funding application? Expand your knowledge about the industry and help turn your passion into your profession.

Attend one or attend them all – find the combination that best suits your needs. You can sign up to each individual session and learn a bit more about what they include via Eventbrite

The series will take place from 19:00 – 20:00 on Wednesday evenings, from 12/11/25 to 26/11/25, and will be hosted on Zoom. Each session is scheduled to last approximately 1 hour, including Q&A time to ask any burning questions you may have. The webinars are intended for young theatre-makers, aged 18-28, living in Scotland. If you have any questions regarding the content of the sessions, you can get in touch with Digital Media Producer Jamie on jamie@scottishyouththeatre.org

Should you have any access requirements in order to participate in the webinars, please contact Jamie.

Participants sit in a circle on stage wearing all black. They are speaking to one another whilst consulting a piece of paper that sits on one of their laps.

“I HAVE FOUND IT INCREDIBLY VALUABLE SEEING HOW OTHER ARTISTS WORK; THEIR PROCESSES, IDEAS AND HOW THEY INTERPRET THE WORLD. THEATRE IS ANYTHING YOU WANT IT TO BE AND CAN MAKE OF IT, AND I HAVE FOUND THIS REALLY INSPIRING.”
