News: Scottish Youth Theatre’s Artistic Director to receive Honour from University of Dundee

On Friday 20 November, the University of Dundee will bestow an honorary doctorate upon Scottish Youth Theatre’s Artistic Director/Chief Executive, during its Winter Graduation ceremony.

This honour has been awarded in recognition of Mary’s significant contribution to developing the next generation of theatre artists, and spear-heading a shift in the way that theatre ‘for and by’ young people is regarded within the arts sector.

Speaking ahead of the ceremony, Mary McCluskey said: It is a real privilege to have been invited to Dundee to accept this honour today. I’ve been very fortunate to be able to dedicate my career to something that I’m passionate about, and to receive this recognition is very gratifying.

More than 1000 students will be joined by family and friends to celebrate their academic achievements at the ceremony at Caird Hall, Dundee. Also receiving an honorary doctorate will be Cathy Warwick CBE, General Secretary of the Royal College of Midwives.
