Welcome back to In Dialogue… a Scottish Youth Theatre podcast that episodically dissects a new theme around theatre-making and the sector with an invited guest artist. In these episodes we platform creatives with a variety of skills and backgrounds, providing insights into how they have overcome challenges, found new connections, achieved key milestones in their own journeys and ultimately shape the future of Scottish theatre.
Within this episode, we sit down with emerging director and writer Mikael Phillipos to talk about all things Edinburgh Fringe. Mikael has produced work at the last two Edinburgh Fringes, and we go into detail about how he made that happen, from fundraising to finding the right team. If you are an emerging artist that is considering taking work to next year’s Fringe – or you’re just curious about what it’s like – this is the perfect episode for you.
Mikael is a writer and director from Glasgow and co-founder of Under the Rug Theatre Company. Mikael graduated from Glasgow University with a Masters in Playwrighting and Dramaturgy and has since worked to produce multiple Scratch Night events with UTR, as well as the script development workshop Dustbunnies. Mikael has previously participated in the Scottish Youth Theatre early-career artist development programme Trajectories (2022).
