Young Artist Survey

WE’RE REACHING OUT TO YOU, AS YOUNG emerging and early-career THEATRE-MAKERS, TO UNDERSTAND HOW WE CAN BEST SUPPORT YOU AND YOUR DEVELOPMENT.

We recognise it’s a really challenging time to be a young artist developing your career and practice. Whether you’re studying a theatre-related subject at college or university, or are in the early stages of your career, we’d really like to understand what support and connections you would find most beneficial in a testing time for the sector. The responses you share with us will be used to inform the actions we take in 2024 and beyond.

A group of young people sit crossed legged on a grey floor in a circle, with sheets of paper and pens placed in front of them. There is a wooden bench to the right of frame and white doors in the background. The young people are smiling
A group of 4 young people sit in seats in the foreground with notepads on their laps, smiling and talking to one another. A group of 3 young people are in the background (one with their back turned) standing in a small circle chatting. They are in a room with white and gold walls and wooden flooring.

CONGRATULATIONS TO TIBBS WEIR FROM DUMBARTON – THE WINNER OF OUR YOUNG ARTIST SURVEY PRIZE DRAW!

Thank you to everyone for the responses they submitted as part of the survey. Over 90 young people shared their experiences of studying, training and working in the industry as young theatre-makers – what has gone well for them and where gaps in access and provision persist. We are currently analysing the data which will form an insight report detailing young artists’ needs across Scotland, which will be published soon.
