Elevate is specifically aimed at young people ready to take the next step in their journey as theatre-makers. During the week young artists collaborated with brand new company 'Hidden Route' ran by Lisa Williamson & Gemma Nicol formerly of Dundee Rep Engage, creating a site-specific performance, promenade performance which investigated reality and home. The performance incorporated live music and started at Theatre Royal Dumfries, finishing at the Plainstanes stage. Along the way, they used shop fronts, local historical sites and cafes to tell their story.
Gemma Nicol & Lisa Williamson are co-artistic directors of hidden route. Collectively they have been working within the participation sector for over fifteen years and during this time have created and directed numerous theatre productions with young people in a range of settings.
Previously they worked together within the renowned Engage department at Dundee Rep Theatre where they worked in diverse contexts such as schools, health & social care and a variety of community settings.
In addition they have worked with companies such as National Theatre of Scotland, The Point, macrobert arts centre, Youth Theatre Arts Scotland and Imaginate.
Gemma and Lisa love to create work that is driven by collaboration and curiosity.
