(Re-)Connecting with young creatives in the North and North East of Scotland.

Encounters was a new touring model that combined live performance, workshops and conversation delivered in four locations in the North and North East of Scotland.

Four early-career artists who had created solo performances in previous Scottish Youth Theatre programmes toured their work and shared their experiences with young audiences in each location.

Following an extended period of online delivered and limited mobility brought about by the pandemic, Scottish Youth Theatre designed the project to also offer a drama workshop and opportunity for conversation to inspire their future engagement with the company and for Scottish Youth Theatre to learn about their creative needs where they live to inform future programming.

“Scottish Youth Theatre have been the biggest driving force in my career as an artist so far. If you are an emerging artist that is looking to make work that is bold, original and diversifies the Scottish theatre scene, I couldn’t recommend a better organisation to take it to. They will nurture you as an artist so you can make the work in question the best it can be and apply the skills and confidence that they will give you to any future work that you might create.”
