Scratch That makes space for 4 exciting, emerging young artists in Aberdeen to take centre stage and test their newest and most innovative ideas with a live audience.

Supported by Scottish Youth Theatre, in partnership with Aberdeen Arts Centre, emerging artists Annabel Lunney, Carly Wilson, Ciaran Drysder and Libby Taylor showcased new work for the first time on 12 February 2025 at the Aberdeen Art Centre Auditorium.

The night mapped together the distinct and compelling stories of 4 young artists as they forge their own pathways into the industry. From being transported back to the 80s to probe feelings of power in a young group of Aberdeen’s Soccer Casuals, to an intimate and insightful disclosure of a body’s journey with Long COVID. From questioning your friendships and place within a community in an intense rural Scottish whodunnit, to the deconstruction of memory and the fourth wall in the design of a play, Scratch That’s artists explored each of their unique perspectives on belonging, relationships and identity.

“It’s great having others to learn from and with, and to feel safe sharing work both in the really early stages and in later stages… It makes me feel more confident taking work further than just the page.”
