A dynamic workshop designed to merge creativity and technique and elevate your acting and performance skills. Through collaborative games, exercises and targeted voice and body warm-ups led by award-winning actress Shauna Macdonald, artists refined their ability to craft compelling characters and navigate nuanced storytelling. They explored Stanislavski’s foundational methods and Practical Aesthetics to build layered and authentic performances. It helped actors looking to deepen their craft, offering sophisticated tools to enhance technique and creative expression in a supportive, professional setting.
Acting Fundamentals was a workshop for all actors and performers based in Glasgow and the West of Scotland.
Shauna Macdonald is a critically acclaimed and multi-award-winning actress. Her professional career began at age 17 in the 1999 film The Debt Collector alongside Billy Connolly. A 2002 graduate of The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Shauna worked professionally throughout her training, with roles in the feature film Late Night Shopping, The Rocket Post, the television show Taggart, and a production of Victory at The Edinburgh Royal Lyceum. In 2018, she received a BAFTA Scotland award for Best Actress in a Film for White Chamber. Shauna is also well-known for her work in The Descent, Spooks, Filth, Outlander, Shetland, Dangermouse and The Scotts, for which she won a Royal Television Award in 2023.
As co-director and artistic director of Edinburgh Youth Theatre, Shauna oversees performing arts classes for 230 young people aged 5-18. With a passion for teaching, she has directed numerous productions at Edinburgh Youth Theatre and continues to teach acting and public speaking skills to adults.
